Scutellaria baicalensis extract is extracted from the root of scutellaria baicalensis, commonly called Chinese Skullcap or Baikal Skullcap. Main active ingredient of the extract is baicalin.

Baicalin is a light yellow powder with bitter taste, soluble in hot acetic acid, slightly soluble in chloroform and nitrobenzene, hardly soluble in water, methanol, ethanol and acetone.
